At the KC Rising Year Three Update, three important action items were offered for the KC region’s business, civic, political and academic leaders. To meet our aggressive goals we must act purposefully, and with urgency, as individual leaders of our respective companies and organizations and, as a community of leaders putting the needs of our region first in the many decisions we make together. We must achieve inclusive prosperity.
Invest in KC’s start up community:
- Invest funds in early stage companies right here in KC and help them put roots down in our region. And if you’re not sure where to start, reach out to KC InvestEd and ask about attending an upcoming event.
- Invest your time and attend a Collaborate to Cure event where you can connect with potential life sciences investment opportunities.
- Companies, invest part of your business and become a customer of a start-up and help them to build a portfolio, continue to raise funds and grow without having to leave KC. Contact Donna Phelps.
Provide experiential learning opportunities to connect our region’s students to business and trade professionals in the classroom as well as provide on-the-job experiences that will prepare high school and college students for future employment. KC Rising will assist companies with opportunities to engage students. Contact Sheri Gonzales Warren.
Get involved in launching one of our new industry brands. April 30 – May 2, Discover Global Markets offers a great opportunity for visibility and engagement for our architecture and engineering firms, as well as those that serve them. KC Global Design will roll out its new brand identity to a global audience on May 1 during the conference reception. Contact Nyamusi (Nya) K. Igambi, Director, U.S. Commercial Service – Kansas City.
