With targeted industry sectors identified, work turns to ownership and structure.
With several initiatives targeted and two industry sectors identified (Design+Construct and Life Sciences Nexus) as specific focus areas for KC Rising, the GCS Work Group has turned to plans for the next phase in the KC Rising plan development. In December, discussion during the GCS Work Group meeting centered around identification of “owners” of the various initiatives and industry growth efforts, engaging members of the targeted industry sectors, and determining the best structure for building two new industry growth initiatives. A preliminary plan will be drafted this month to further guide the process.
The Global Cities Initiative is moving forward and has identified three areas where it will focus its efforts over the next year. Outreach begins this month to area economic development leadership to identify companies that may be candidates for growth in exports. A final export plan is expected by April 2016.
