Volunteers are the brain and backbone of KC Rising. Read below for insights from Sandy Price, senior vice president of human resources for Sprint, on why she believes in KC Rising and what she thinks the most significant outcomes will be.

How will the KC region know that KC Rising is a success?

We are confident that KC Rising initiatives will accelerate our region’s prosperity.   Success will be measured by the extent to which we increase the number of quality jobs in the greater metropolitan area, increase median household income, and increase the total value of products and services generated by our region.

What is one thing your Work Group is working on that the rest of the volunteers should know about?

The Human Capital work group is focused on the success of the people who live in our region today.  We also want to attract new talent to our communities- particularly to meet the demand for jobs that can be hard to fill in the technology and life sciences sectors.  KC is an amazing place!  We will soon launch, with the help of the Kansas City Area Development Council, an on-line recruitment “toolkit” that will be available to all businesses and agencies in our region. The resources beautifully tell the KC story to prospective individuals, families, and businesses considering moving here.

What compelled you to get involved with KC Rising?

I moved to the area in 1989 and consider Kansas City to be my home.  I am passionate about the success of the people here, and the success of businesses and not-for-profit agencies that fuel our economy.

What advice do you have for the KC Rising volunteers to get the most out of their experience in the process?

Just jump in!  There is an opportunity for anyone to be engaged who is willing to learn, contribute, and have some fun along the way.
