The KCRise Fund announced today that it has selected two KC area companies, SpiderOak and Innara Health, for the fund’s first investments.

“SpiderOak and Innara Health got our attention early on and we are so excited to play a role in their future success,” said Darcy Howe, KCRise Fund manager. “The KCRise Fund is officially on its way to making capital more accessible to our home-based entrepreneurs,” she added.

SpiderOak, an online data security company with several successful products currently on the market, is based in Mission, Kansas. The company was co-founded by Alan Fairless in 2006.

To qualify as a KCRise Fund portfolio company, the company will have high growth potential; reside or have substantial operations between Manhattan, Kansas and Columbia, Missouri; be seeking at least $1 million in a Series A round and have an approved venture capital firm investor in the funding round.
